The Alabama Crimson Tide needed a miraculous drive to keep their playoff hopes alive, and now it could propel them into the final 4 playoff teams.
#5 Alabama defeated #16 LSU 20-13, after what looked like a sure defeat with only seconds remaining in the game. Alabama running back Kenyon Drake fumbled inside his own 10 yard line late in the fourth , and LSU kicked a chip shot field goal to take a 13-10 lead; things went south in a hurry.
LSU tried a squib kick on the ensuing kickoff to Alabama, who had no timeouts remaining, but the kicker committed a costly penalty. The kick out of bounds penalty put Alabama in good field postion, and you know the rest of the story.
Blake Simms did not have the best statisticle night, going 20 of 45 for 209 yards with 2 touchdowns and no turnovers. Simms had ice in his veins however when the game, and season were in the balance.
Up next for the Crimson Tide, a showdown against the number 1 team in the nation Mississppi State.The winner takes control of the SEC West.
