The College Football Selection Committee is sweating in the New Year. And they are rooting hard for Ohio State to have a strong showing in the Sugar Bowl. The reason? Well, it appears(at least for now) that one of the top 4 teams in the country was left out of the College Football Playoff. That team is TCU.
The Horned Frogs took on Ole Miss, the team that beat Alabama in the Peach Bowl today and well… it wasn’t pretty for the Rebels. The Frogs overcame 4 turnovers and still racked up 423 yards and 42 points against one of the best defenses in the SEC and the nation. Trevone Boykin might be the Heisman favorite going into next season after his 3 TD performance capping off a spectacular season. Not only did the TCU offense have its way with the Rebels “Land shark” defense, but the TCU defense completely dominated Bo Wallace and the Ole Miss offense. The Frogs held the Rebs to just 129 total yards and only 9 yards on 37 attempts on the ground. Wallace turned in a “Bad Bo” performance with just 109 yards, no touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
So what does this mean for the committee? Well if Alabama dominates Ohio State, the that means the committee got it wrong right? The argument is sitting, waiting to see what happens in New Orleans, but for the time being, TCU has been the most impressive team during Bowl Season.
