A football season can change on a dime for any team, even if you have a all-time quarterback great under center.
This past Sunday the Denver Broncos forgot to show up in a 24-13 upset loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and Peyton Manning has some serious issues throwing the ball. After a opening drive touchdown concluded by a beautiful fade pattern to Demarius Thomas, Manning was not the same player. The screen game that was successful all season for Denver, was stopped by a stingy Colts defense. Manning according to reports played the game with a torn quad ; it was evident something was bothering him all game. After the loss, other pieces of the Broncos puzzle started to fall apart as well. John Fox, head coach of the Broncos, mutually agreed with John Elway to part ways with the team. On Wednesday , defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio bolted for division rival Oakland’s head coaching position.
So this is how we persuade Peyton to return?
Manning is the only one who knows if he can still play or wants to, but besides the last few passing records he is chasing is it really worth the grind to return?
My gut feeling? Peyton is done with the emotional and physical toll of the NFL, but will he surface soon in another football related position?
I just don’t see how Peyton Manning can return to the field following one of the worst stretches of his career.
