Despite the 5-4 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber had himself quite a night. Not only did the Sicamous, British Columbia native record his first career hat trick but he also moved into a tie with Roman Hamrlik for 32nd on the NHL’s all-time “goals by a defenseman” list, registered his second three-point game in his last three games and tallied the 24th hat trick in the history of the franchise.
Also of note, the only other “power play hat trick” in the history of Nashville — where all three goals were scored on the man advantage — was by Steve Sullivan in his Predators debut on March 18, 2004.
