Wednesday’s edition of Sports Night featured a cool local story. Mookie Betts, alumnus of John Overton High School in Nashville, joined the show to discuss his rise to stardom with the Boston Red Sox. Betts has rapidly become one of the betterĀ all-around players in baseball, making the highlight reels on a nightly basis. Last week he notched a 3-homer game in Baltimore — one night before he hit two more round-trippers. In just his second full MLB season, Betts is batting .287 with 14 home runs and 45 RBI through 58 games.
In this interview with Betts, you’ll hear the story of how he got the nickname “Mookie”, what he’s learned from David Ortiz and what it’s like to be an everyday Major Leaguer after playing ball at Overton. Listen to the interview here…
