The news was confirmed this week that the Chargers, formerly of San Diego, will move North to Los Angeles for the 2017-2018 season. To celebrate the most recent NFL migration, the Bolts released their new team logo Thursday morning to engender good vibes towards their new fan base…and the Twitterverse proceeded to crush them for it.
Among those to contribute to the mockery, the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning stole the show by pointing out the distinct similarity between the Chargers’ new branding, Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers logo and their own.
The Dodgers were happy to play along and the following ensued:
A source with knowledge of the situation, however, informed ESPN’s Darren Rovell that the logo the team has chosen to put forth for all to ridicule is only a working logo that has yet to be officially approved by the NFL. Until then, we should all take advantage of the fruits of San Diegans’ sufferings while we have the opportunity.
Damn, Twitter really does come through on occasion.
