When the Tennessee Titans hit the road this Sunday to face the Baltimore Ravens, the game won’t have the same feel it did a decade ago. Back then it was a marquee game for both teams. Nowadays it is just another game for the Titans and Ravens, which is a shame considering the intense battles when they were in the same division and playing each other in the playoffs.
On Wednesday’s edition of Sports Night, two former Ravens from the 2000-01 team that won the Super Bowl (after beating the Titans in the AFC Divisional Playoffs) appeared on the show: Qadry Ismail and Trent Dilfer.
Ismail said he had a big smile when asked about the bitterness of the past rivalry with the Titans. And then he praised the atmosphere at what was then called Adelphia Coliseum, now LP Field.
“I thought Tennessee’s fans were the loudest – you can put in Denver in the mix, Seattle with their noise, any dome team, they could not hold a candle to the intensity of the crowd of the Tennessee Titans when Baltimore came to play them. It was just awesome, awesome theatre,” Ismail told Sports Night.
