The Philadelphia Eagles had little trouble on Monday night against the struggling Carolina Panthers, and may have a quarterback competition on their hands.
Mark Sanchez, who was signed this offseason by the Eagles, had 332 yards passing and two touchdowns in the 45-21 blow out victory. The main target of Sanchez? Vanderbilt alumi Jordan Matthews, who had a big night with 2 touchdown catches to go with his 7 catches for 138 yards. The Panthers could not get any momentum going aginst a stingy Philadelphia defense, who gave Cam Newton problems all night. On the second play of the game Panther’s running back Deangelo Williams fumbled, and things would not get any better for Carolina.
Newton was intercepted on the ensuing Panthers drive follwoing a Eagles field goal, but it could not get any worse right? Wrong. Darren Sproles had 2 touchdowns on the night as well, including a huge 65-yard punt return for a touchdown, that put a dissapointing game out of reach for Carolina. Newton stayed in the entire game, even though the game was out of reach from the 1st quarter. Cam Newton was also sacked a career high 9 times on the night.
The main topic coming out of this Monday night game, is what will the Eagles do when Nick Foles returns from injury? If Sanchez  continues to play the rest of the season the way he performed tonight, I would not be surprised to see Chip Kelly stay with the hot hand. With the victory, Philadelphia moves to 7-2 on the year, and maintain their lead in the NFC East.
