When Gabriel Bourque did not return to Friday afternoon’s game in Philadelphia, it was widely speculated that the Nashville Predators would recall Viktor Arvidsson from the Milwaukee Admirals. Arvidsson scored his first career NHL goal earlier this season and, after being sent down, went on a 13-game point scoring streak.
A Finnish website, jatkoaika.com, is reporting that Arvidsson has been recalled but so has blue chip goaltending prospect Juuse Saros.
A surprising move to be sure but back-up netminder Carter Hutton spent some unexpected time on the IR earlier this month and, once back, was flipped by Marcus Foligno on Wednesday night.
In his first season in North America, Saros has won his last seven AHL games and is an impressive 8-2-0 with a 2.40 goals against average.
When official, it will be his first NHL recall.
UPDATE (12:52pm): The NHL’s official roster page has been updated to show Saros on the Nashville active roster. It fails to show Arvidsson, however.
