Nashville Predators fans often find themselves struggling to come up with words to describe the talents of Filip Forsberg.
And that was before April 5.
The tally was Forsberg’s 32nd goal of the season but, really, it was so much more than that. Midway through the opening period, the Preds were on the power play. The Ostervala, Sweden native made it 2-0, home team, when he took a Ryan Johansen accidental pass off the skate and promptly put himself in heavy rotation of the North American highlight reels, including being named the top goal of the season on Fox 17’s “A Special Season in Smashville” special that aired Sunday, May 22.
Always the humble sort, Forsberg downplayed the move.
“It was just the best play to score,” he said. “If I went backhand, it was going right into the goalie’s chest. A lot of times, when you do that move, you’re just showing off. But that was actually the most effective play to score a goal.”
Below is Pete Weber’s incredible call of the incredible goal.
Below is the Fox Sports Tennessee broadcast of the moment.
Forsberg’s between-the-legs goal comes in at #4 on our Top 10 Moments of the 2015-16 Season countdown.
