Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting that Nashville Predators defenseman PK Subban will not play Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
It was Subban’s first of just two opportunities this season to play against the team that unexpectedly traded him away this past summer. Friedman is reporting that Subban may need surgery to repair a herniated disc.

Options include rest and hope it improves. Worst-case scenario is surgery, which puts him out a while. Definitely no desire to see that.

If surgery is the path to recovery, Subban very well could have to wait until next season to play his former club — barring the Stanley Cup Final match-up that EA Sports predicted, of course — as Nashville’s final tilt against the Habs is in Montreal on March 2.
Consequently, former Preds captain Shea Weber will make his first and only return of the season to Nashville Tuesday night. The tribute video is sure to bring the crowd to its feet and tears to the eyes.
Also of note about Tuesday’s contest, the twice-departed Alexander Radulov will also make his return to Music City. Even without Subban in the Preds lineup, it should be an extremely festive atmosphere at Bridgestone Arena featuring a wide range of emotions.
