After a less-than-satisfactory result in this years NCAA SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala., the Vanderbilt Commodores will, once again, have the opportunity to prove their postseason worth with home-field advantage.
Vandy went 43-17 this season with a record of 31-5 at their home ballpark. They will open the first round of the tournament against Xavier (30-28) at 7 p.m. this Friday. The Commodores faced the Musketeers earlier in the regular season with tremendous results, sweeping the three-game series.
Seasoned head coach Tim Corbin will guide Vanderbilt through their 11th straight tourney berth. Corbin-coached Commodore teams have made the postseason 12 out of the program’s 15 all-time appearances. Vanderbilt won out over Virgina 3-2 in the 2014 tournament for the program’s first national championship
UC-Santa Barbara (37-18) will play Washington (32-21) at 1 p.m. Friday. Those games will be streamed online only on ESPN3.
