Filip Forsberg is on fire. No, really. He’s on fire.
Tuesday night in Buffalo, with the Nashville Predators trailing 4-3 in the third period, Forsberg scored a game-tying goal with 2:23 remaining. And then 2:45 into overtime, Forsberg followed it up with yet another game-winning goal — his 10th goal in five games.
This comeback victory marks the first four-game win streak for the Preds this season. They’ve also registered a 6-1-1 record in their last eight games. But the story is all about Forsberg, who is starting to draw the national spotlight after being named the NHL’s First Star of the Week for last week’s heroics.
Since being acquired at the trade deadline on Apr. 3, 2013, Forsberg has scored 86 goals in a Preds uniform. The two players that went to Washington in the deal — Martin Erat and Michael Latta — have racked 16 NHL goals and seven hockey organizations.
