Nashville Predators 3, Winnipeg Jets 0
Bridgestone Arena
Nashville, Tennessee
Game 4 of 82
* Defenseman Dan Hamhuis drew into the lineup in place of Anthony Bitetto.
* Thursday was Hamhuis’ first home game as a member of the Preds since April 26, 2010.
* Ryan Ellis played his 400th career NHL game on Thursday.
* After the contest, Ellis laughed and said “Only 600 more to go!”
* Blueliner Matt Irwin has yet to suit up and play this season.
* The last time these two teams met was five months ago when Winnipeg eliminated Nashville in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
* There was a feverish pace to this one early on. In the game’s opening 10 minutes, there were only four whistles.
* Ryan Hartman intercepted a pass and then rushed in on a breakaway to give Nashville their first goal on home ice this season.
* Then, in the third period, he intercepted another Winnipeg pass that eventually led to Roman Josi’s goal.
* Winnipeg took 14 penalties on Thursday night but Nashville failed to convert on any of their nine power plays.
* The Preds have yet to tally on the man advantage this season.
* In the middle frame, Miikka Salomaki stapled Nikolaj Ehlers to the glass and a brouhaha ensued.
* Colton Sissons and Mattias Ekholm dropped the gloves against Ehlers and Blake Wheeler, respectively.
* It was Ekholm’s first career fighting major. Forsberg said after the game “It’s about time.”
* To close out the scoring, Ryan Johansen scored a beautiful goal when he got past the Jets defense and backhand roofed it over Connor Hellebuyck.
* Mark Scheifele, Dustin Byfuglien and Wheeler — three guys who were critical to Winnipeg’s success over the Preds last playoffs — were each a minus-3.
* The shutout was Pekka Rinne’s 52nd career shutout, putting him in sole possession of 23rd all-time.
* Legendary netminders Bernie Parent and Ed Giacomin are next on the list with 54.
* The Milwaukee Admirals did not play tonight so no Rocco Grimaldi updates. Sorry.
And, finally, your Game 4 Tweet of the Night is…
TV timeouts should be banned when the #NHLJets and #Preds play. Let’s take a look at eliminating icings in those games too.
