After spending his last 36 games in the AHL Juuso Pärssinen is back with the Nashville Predators after officially being called up on Thursday morning.
He got into Nashville after the Predators got home from Vancouver and the 6-foot-3 forward said he’s picked confidence in his game after playing his last 36 games as a Milwaukee Admiral.
“Just get him accustomed and back to what we’re doing here just in case something happens,” head coach Andrew Brunette said. “He’s played well down there and there’s an opportunity to get in the lineup here.”
Back in late March Pärssinen said he felt more confident touching the puck more often and making plays with more ice time under the watch of Admirals head coach Karl Taylor.
“I don’t think that’s something to think about,” Pärssinen said addressing if he wanted to get back to Nashville. “I’m trying to do my best here every day and be the best version of myself every day. If it happens it happens but that’s not in my control so it’s all focus here.”
Well, now he’s back after being a key piece to the Admrial’s success later in the season. Milwaukee doesn’t have a playoff game for almost another week and now Pärssinen could potentially find himself back in an NHL lineup.
“It’s really nice to be back here,” Pärssinen said. “I’ve been watching what they’ve been doing, it’s unreal.”
Earlier in the season Pärssinen played top-line minutes with Ryan O’Reilly and Filip Forsberg. After six games on that line, Gustav Nyquist filled that role and went on to have a stellar season for Nashville.
Pärssinen hopes to add to the size factor of the Predators and acknowledged how that’ll be a key part of this series against the Vancouver Canucks.
“Whoever our opponent is we have good matchups and players for everything,” he said.
Then lately as the regular season came to a close in Milwaukee Pärssinen saw a few new faces make their professional debut Ryan Ufko, Alex Campbell, Jeremy Hanzel, and Nolan Burke.
“Ufko came in a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t know a lot about him but he’s been really good,” Pärssinen said of a player that stood out to him lately.
The Finnish forward added that Zach L’Heureux is someone he’s been impressed by as well. L’Heureux has put up 48 points in 66 games this season and has added five game-winners to his resume as well.
In the meantime, eyes will be on if Pärssinen could draw in for his NHL postseason debut sometime soon.
